It’s like almost all is lost. Yet still they are here – abandoned bungalows, an artificial lake, dirty plastic bottles, lost donkeys and stray dogs, draining pipes running over fields of salt, deserted factories, statues of revolutionaries, concrete playgrounds covered with weeds, rotten fruit, folded T-shirts, pop songs, decades of forgetting, a single room with a blue tent inside. And it felt like a kiss.
We are on our way to Prijedor in Bosnia, the director’s hometown, and the place of his perpetual departures. But before arriving, we must learn to inhabit departure as a space in which we can grow and be reborn.
Nenad is a worker at a train repair factory in Prijedor, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and as many young people around him, he plans to go to work and possibly permanently live in Slovenia. Between nostalgia for the homeland and dreams of a better life, the film explores the dilemmas that arise when you decide to leave your country.
