Around the World in 80 Days is an animated television series that lasted one season of sixteen episodes, broadcast during the 1972-1973 season by NBC. It was the first Australian-produced cartoon to be shown on American network television. Leif Gram directed all sixteen episodes, and the stories were loosely adapted by Chester "Chet" Stover from the novel by Jules Verne.
In 1841 young Ishmael signs aboard the whaling ship Pequod, under the command of the strict, one-legged Capt. Ahab. Ishmael soon finds out that Ahab is searching for the legendary white whale, Moby Dick, who cost Ahab his leg, and he will let nothing stand in the way of getting his revenge on the beast.
In 1194 England, it is a time of rebellion as King Richard is away fighting in the Crusades, and his evil brother Prince John has employed the malicious Sheriff of Nottingham to take advantage of the people. It is up to Robin Hood and his Merry Men, Little John, Will Scarlett, and Friar Tuck, as they take on the scheming Sheriff in their defense of the poor and powerless.
