When beautiful young Grace arrives in the isolated township of Dogville, the small community agrees to hide her from a gang of ruthless gangsters, and, in return, Grace agrees to do odd jobs for the townspeople.
In 1933, after leaving Dogville, Grace Margaret Mulligan sees a slave being punished at a cotton farm called Manderlay. Officially, slavery is illegal and Grace stands up against the farmers. She stays with some gangsters in Manderlay and tries to influence the situation. But when harvest time comes, Grace sees the social and economic reality of Manderlay.
The Killing is a Danish police procedural set in the Copenhagen main police department and revolves around Detective Inspector Sarah Lund and her team, with each season series following a different murder case day-by-day and a one-hour episode covering twenty-four hours of the investigation. The series is noted for its plot twists, season-long storylines, dark tone and for giving equal emphasis to the story of the murdered victim's family alongside the police investigation. Edgar Doran has lived all his life on his old, gloomy ancestral farm deep in the forest. On a visit to the big city, he meets – among an extravagant company of artists – the eccentric, beautiful Vera, who enchants him at first sight. Edgar’s strong feelings are reciprocated, the couple get married and move into his forest home together. However, Edgar’s long-time friend is very sceptical of the new mistress of the farm and is the first to sow a seed of suspicion against the mysterious Vera in Edgar’s sombre mind.
