Adolf Hitler is infamous today as a war criminal - arguably one of the worst war criminals in history. Yet during the 1930s he was loved by millions of Germans. How was this possible? The story revolves around Hans, a kind-hearted but not particularly bright young man. He is bored on his father's farm. He would love to see something of the world and find a woman to marry. So he sets off and wants to visit his grandmother at the same time. However, the route takes him right through the fairytale land of the Brothers Grimm, where he meets various characters from their stories: Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Rumpelstiltskin, Mother Hulda, the Brave Little Tailor, Puss in Boots, Master Pfriem and, finally, Father Death. The latter is a little under the weather and the unsuspecting Hans helps him back on his feet.
A team of inspectors investigates murders in and around the small Upper Bavarian town of Rosenheim, and they still have plenty of time to see idyllic landscapes and luxurious pre-alpine villas and enjoy sumptuous Bavarian fare with beer.
A bohemian painter named Artist and a guitarist named James meet at a concert and have an instant connection. They start a philosophical discussion at her apartment, but they are interrupted by strange occurrences which reveal they are no longer in reality but an ominous dream world. Both Artist and James are confronted by characters and situations from their past, and they must work together to put the memory pieces together and escape to reality, if they can.
