A young nurse, a visionary scientist and an innovative surgeon face opposition from the church, state, media and medical establishment, in their pursuit of the world’s first ‘test tube baby’, Louise Joy Brown.
The film revolves around a young girl's diary, which is used as a narrative thread to show a couple at three different stages of gender intimacy: initial indulgence to disorientation and final exploration. Different emotional qualities, power relations and complexities in intimacy are presented. Ultimately, the story of self-moulding and self-extension is accomplished through this intimate relationship.
