Mr. Vila is a family father who has worked a lot during his life to achieve a good life for his family. His oldest daughter, Elvira, causes him many problems because she acts as a rebel.
Father Barrera, a newly ordained priest, returns from Rome to join the national forces as a military chaplain. The horrors of war produce in him a commotion so great that panic dominates him and he is not able to overcome it. After spending some time on the front line, they send him to the rear.
