Through some strange experiment, Siwiec, a journalist, gets moved back in time. In this new dimension, he encounters unforeseeable adventures.
The film is based on true events. Officers locked in a POW camp make a desperate attempt to get out. A group of daredevils undertake to dig an underground tunnel through which they can escape. We learn about their moral dilemmas, solidarity and loyalty to their friends. This is especially emphasized in the last scenes of the film.
When a political decision is made as to the location of a new large chemical factory, Stefan Bednarz is put in charge of it. This honest communist party man has to confront the local community opposing the construction.
