Nurse Sinikka wants to help a prisoner who crosses the border from the Soviet Union. She and her fiancé plan a flight via Finland with the help of her mother. Ruth the girlfriend of Sinikka's brother happens to witness the escape, which puts them all in danger.
One of several experimental films shot in the late '60s and early '70s by the recently deceased computer music pioneer Erkki Kurenniemi, Florence is a dazzling, abstract travelogue shot between Italy, Switzerland, and the artist's home in Finland.
A film in two episodes. The first, "Juulia", is a young woman's stylish reminiscence of her brief summer romance, set in some of the most chic design locations around Helsinki. The second episode "Tikku", a seemingly semi-improvised comedy, takes an overworked housewife, her three children and her lazy husband out of the city to spend the weekend at the mother-in-law's.
