Nutcracker 2000

It's easy to see why The Nutcracker, Tchaikovsky's perennially popular ballet first performed in 1892, has such enduring appeal. As Patrice Bart's 1999 production shows, it is always beautiful to look at, lending itself to the Christmas season where it has a permanent place in the schedules of the major dance companies. And Hoffmann's tale of the troubled child who must go on a wonderful (and occasionally terrifying) journey of discovery has a universal and timeless appeal. Bart's production for the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin builds on Petipa's original choreography and develops the context of the child Marie's (Nadja Saidakova) anxiety into a strong narrative. The godfather Drosselmayer (Oliver Matz) is initially a sinister figure, forcing her to confront past events before leading her into the glittering land of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Here, all expectations are exceeded.

SaMTV Unplugged 2018 (9)

20 years, 13 albums, countless mixtapes and many legendary features after his beginnings with Dynamite Deluxe, german rap legend Samy Deluxe proved again that he is the best in the game on the MTV Unplugged stage in early April 2018. At this exceptional show, companions from both decades of his career will take the mic. With completely newly arranged classics and a show peppered with gems that have never been played live, it is the first MTV Unplugged on the high seas. The sails will be set on the MS Bleichen in the port of Hamburg.

Sarah Kuttner – Die Show was a German television talk show that ran on VIVA and was then transferred to MTV under the title Kuttner. in mid-2005. It ran from August 2, 2004 to August 3, 2006. Hosted by Sarah Kuttner, it was a more youthful variation on the traditional late show concept with a sidekick, Sven Schuhmacher, and various national as well as international celebrity guests. The show also featured humorous reports by Michael Wigge and Caroline Korneli, its own band and musical guests performing live on stage. When MTV took over other German music channel VIVA in 2004, it was suggested, the show would be cancelled, which drew massive protests from fans. It was then cut from four shows per week to just two shows and later transferred to MTV and renamed Kuttner. Production was relocated from Cologne to Berlin. MTV cancelled Kuttner. in summer 2006 due to low ratings and high production costs.
