The Silence 2017 ( 10)

The Silence narrates the struggle of fifteen "comfort women"—former sex slaves by the Imperial Japanese Army during WWII—for recognition and reparation. The "comfort women" issue has previously been treated almost exclusively within the framework of Korean nationalism. The Silence will provide insight into the ways in which nationalism and the emergence of post-war Asian nation-states have hindered the understanding of "comfort women" narratives through Zainichi Korean documentary filmmaker Soo-nam Park's point of view.

The Other Hiroshima: Korean A-bomb Victims Tell Their Story 2005

Living in a slum damaged by the atomic bomb and watching elderly first-generation zainichi hibakusha (atomic bomb survivors) pass away one after another, Pak felt compelled to break their silence with this documentary, her first. Using up all her savings and going into debt, she teamed up with cinematographer Otsu Koshiro and collected these testimonials from zainichi North and South Koreans living in Hiroshima and South Korean hibakusha visiting Japan for medical treatment.

The Voices of the Silenced 2024

Director Park Soo-nam, a second-generation Korean resident in Japan who is losing his eyesight, decides to digitally restore 16mm film she shot a long time ago, relying on her daughter Park Ma-eui's eyesight. The blood, tears, and numerous corpses of Koreans living in Japan are clearly engraved in the film filmed over 50 years.

Night Markets 1979

Seung-ah fails to get into college and wander through life. She meets Jin-tae and loses her virginity to him. She continues to be psychologically lost until she meets her true love Seok-ho, an ice hockey player. But he dies tragically during a game. Her wanderings in night markets lead her to meet psychiatrist named Min Jeong-gi. They develop a father/daughter relationship but she is soon disappointed by his hypocrisy. She returns to Jin-tae and begins to appreciate rough but genuine nature and begins a new life.

Where Is Miss Yang? 1976

Nan-Hyang runs away from home because she can't bear her inharmonious family where her father is a doctor and her mother is the president of a third rate publishing company. Nan-Hyang meets Jin-Ho and his friend Min-Su and has mutual understandings. Jin-Ho stopped studying temporarily. With them, Nan-Hyang lives at her own way and sometimes deviates from the right path. But, Min-Su's success in exam, who makes efforts in everything, makes her realize self-consciousness. Jin-Ho also returns to the college.

Uyoil 1980

Music student Su-ja puts special meaning on Wednesdays. While she is on a trip to Jeju Island, she meets a mid-aged gentleman Hyuk-min. She has a swimming athlete boyfriend Duk-sin. She goes to a piano recital of her professor Sin-ae and confuses finding that Hyuk-min is Sin-ae's husband. As she was getting close to Hyuk-min, Duk-sin breaks up with her and Sin-ae kills husband's parrot out of rage. Lovers go on a trip together on the day of first snow of the season while Duk-sin gets a car accident. Repenting his fault, Hyuk-min goes back to his family and Su-ja leaves Duk-sin.
