Judy Abbott is an orphan living in New York, who at the age of 17 finds herself in receipt of a college scholarship and monthly allowance from a mysterious benefactor. Her benefactor believes she has great potential as a writer and wishes to see her succeed. The only payment he asks in return is that she write him a letter every month addressed to the pseudonym "Mr. John Smith", with the understanding that he will never reply.
Nobita and Doraemon travel into the future to see whether or not Nobita will marry Shizuka. Once they arrive, they find out that instead of travelling to the day of the wedding, they traveled to the day before. The pair follow the future Nobita and his friends as they try to return a lost cat to its owner.
Nobita finds his old teddy bear among the trash after his mother partially cleaned up their shed and tells her not to throw it away. The stuffed animal is a precious gift from his beloved grandmother. Reminiscing about her makes Nobita ask Doraemon to take him back to when he was still three years old and his grandma was still alive. [edit]

One night, during a journey back from the isle of Chios, the ship collides with a rock before the storm sets in. Unfortunately, in order to save the ship and the lives of the crew, John must sacrifice his own life. Columbus sets sail as the chief sailor on a cargo vessel en route from Genoa to Lisbon transporting precious loads of contents. Having passed the Straits of Gibraltar, the fleet then encounters pirates off the coast of Saint Vincent’s Cape. The Genoese crew tries to escape from the pirates, but to no avail; they are soundly defeated, and their ship is sunk. Shipwrecked, Columbus finds himself at the mercy of the waves...
