The First Years is a Dutch series for young people in which real-life situations are recreated. The series sheds light on subjects that pupils in the first year of secondary school may be confronted with.
Nola is badly screwed when a video is distributed at school showing her being dumped by her boyfriend Jesse. Her grief and jealousy get her into even more trouble: she is no longer allowed to attend camp. Popular Fenna takes advantage of this, as she wants to win over handsome Jesse. When Nola is at her wit's end and wants to avoid this, she gets help from an unexpected source. Boy, a rebellious boy from second grade, comes to the rescue. Together they set out to stop Fenna and win Jesse back... But is this still what Nola wants?
Maya and Sem’s lives are intertwined. The two 17-year-old girls are like yin and yang: Sem lives for the future, Maya conversely lives in the here and now. One breezy summer’s evening, the two companions gaze up at the starry sky side by side. Sem clasps her ball, Maya her joint. There is some melodious music in the background.
