Filmed at the Arena di Verona in Verona, Italy on September 26th, 2010, Taking The Pulse is the 2nd of a pair of concert films directed by Gabriel's daughter Ana and Andrew Gaston. This concert film takes footage from the second set of that show, where Gabriel does a section of his own songs backed up by a symphony orchestra conducted by Ben Foster (Doctor Who, BBC Proms). An emotionally torn bank manager is fretting over his extra marital relations with a colleague when he is pulled into the center of a violent and twisted heist.
When her boyfriend is arrested for marijuana possession, Joleen Reedy and her 11-year-old daughter, Tara, take refuge with Joleen's aimless brother, James. Joleen soon runs off with a truck driver, and James is unable to meet his responsibilities. After Child Protective Services takes possession of Tara, James abducts her from a foster home, and the two travel from California to Utah, where his abusive father lives.
A lonely 9-year-old boy stumbles across a modest caravan in the American Midwest. Inside the caravan lives Dotty, an eccentric but kind women; old enough to be his grandmother. Dotty invites the boy into her rainbow decorated caravan that is littered with exotic memorabilia from her past, and in particular an incredible collection of brightly colored shoes. The boy, who has a hidden sadness he wont discuss and a suspicious bruise on one arm is able to forget about his troubles momentarily as Dotty and the boy embark on a journey that spans her colorful life.
