Walter is an unemployed architect, who is getting ready to go for an interview. But just as he is about to leave his flat, an eight-year-old boy, Yuri, approaches him at the door, claiming to be his son. The film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film.
Everything seems to be going according to plan for graduate engineer Oliver Berger. He has only just landed a lucrative contract for his employer when he is already entrusted with the next major project. He willingly puts up with constant trips abroad and working through weekends. Meanwhile, his wife Lena and his ten-year-old son Moritz wait for him at his apartment in Erfurt or at the weekend house. Berger has never worried that his marriage might suffer as a result of his job. So he is all the more stunned when Lena leaves him at the drop of a hat. Suddenly, Berger is a single father.
His job is on the line, the children are annoying and things have been better with his wife Marion: Horst Michalke urgently needs a vacation. But it all comes to nothing when he drives over a man while drunk. Afraid of the police, Horst takes the unconscious man home with him. When the stranger wakes up, he claims to have lost his memory and takes up residence with the family...
