'Repetition' is an attempt to convey the importance of our endless endeavours toward human development and growth amidst a chaotic and disorienting landscape.
The idea for this part of the story started on a day when there was really heavy rain hitting the roof window at my old flat. I got out my binaural mics and put my head right up by the window with the big raindrops hitting all around. They made nice individual percussive noises, with great spatial positioning, so I decided to use them to seed a piece of music.
Intent on seizing control of South East England's cocaine business, small-time crime boss Randall hires notorious hit-man Walker to take out his competition. When Randall betrays the hit-man, however, the tables are turned.
The video clip was created through painstaking hand and rotoscoped one-step animation work under a 3D structure created in computer graphics. The video, which serves as a backdrop to a musical piece by electronic music composer Max Cooper, is conceived through the use of simple structures and shapes in continuous “sound” transformation. Geometric elements, which are the visual equivalent of sounds, evolve into an abstract, undefined dimension, creating a colorful “dance” of signs in space.
This is the story of Bella, a defiantly proud transsexual and part-time tattooist, whose mere presence arouses the ire of one of the prison guards. But the guard's taunts are more complicated than they appear.
