South African wilderness 1800's. Five years after their mother died, Rachel, a girl on the cusp of adolescence and 5-year-old Jamie find themselves on their way to the virgin gold fields with their father, Herman, as he tries to start a new life. When Jamie goes missing in a freak snow blizzard, Rachel braves the storm to look for her little brother.
"Flesh of my Flesh" tells the story of how a married couple's relationship and household are changed after a car accident claims their little daughter's life and leaves the wife quadriplegic. Twelve years after the accident Magnus helps Annelie to prepare for their wedding anniversary. Both have seemingly dealt with the effects of the accident and adapted to their situation. In spite of him being estranged from their son Cornelius, Magnus is determined to make the evening a success. Their anniversary starts with jokes and romance but as the frustrations of Annelie's disability become more prominent, their special occasion goes off the rails. It is in a situation of utter powerlessness that Annelie finds her strength and Magnus is forced to face his regrets and pain.
When an oil rig in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia proves unproductive, an aircraft crew are sent to shut the operation down and fly them out. On the flight out over the desert on the way to Beijing, Capt. Frank Towns and co-pilot A.J. are unable to keep their cargo plane, a C-119 Flying Boxcar, in the air when a violent sandstorm strikes. Crash-landing in a remote uncharted part of the desert, the two pilots and their passengers -- a crew of oil workers and a drifter -- must work together to survive by rebuilding the aircraft. Soon, low supplies and a band of merciless smugglers add even greater urgency to their task.
