An uninterrupted journey through a Street in San Antonio de los Baños in Cuba. The film explores the different moods, rhythms, faces and voids that coexist in close proximity within the prismatic space of the street which at the same time is the time of a whole generation.
The open house is an imaginary reconstruction. A timeless narrative with protagonists from different times. The house as a theater of memory. Time encapsulated in a house. Multiple layers shot one on top of the other on 16mm film open the doors of the family memory. A journey through death, mourning and birth as a reflection on presences and absences. An attempt to bring the family together once again.
The year 2000. Maya, a young Londoner, goes to the small village of her Spanish girlfriend, Ruth, who has just died in an accident. She wants to say goodbye, but the shock and anxiety of presenting herself as the “foreign girlfriend” to family and friends she doesn't know and who speak a different language, is compounded by the perplexity of discovering that nobody knows who she is.
