The Voskovec and Werich duo play a peculiar pair - a clumsy coach driver and an equally clumsy traffic policeman, who both fall in love with a young actress. Although their ludicrous courtship does not work out, both buddies become successful revue comedians.
The film revolves around a wealthy man who loves a foreign dancer. Another person who works for the wealthy man also falls in love with this dancer, which leads to his wife's suspicions. She complains to her brother, who argues with his sister's husband. This argument results in the wife's brother being shot, the husband fleeing, and the wife dying after giving birth to a daughter.
In the thirties, a Chasseur Alpin commander is accused of spying and sentenced to death. At the last minute, he is saved from the firing squad by a female spy's confession.
