Mahiara Sáenz (Santiago, Chile, 2003) is a director and screenwriter. Her work probes female memory, desire as resistance, and spirituality as a living archive, blending intimate/social horror with a surreal, unsettling sensibility to reframe oppressive symbols and devices. She tells visceral minority stories and approaches politics through the senses, favoring atmospheric filmmaking and contemporary surrealism, natural light, sound-led narration, and minimal practical effects. She is developing La Lengua de la Pampa (in development), wrote/produced Insomnio (2025)
