Kazuya Tsurumaki is a Japanese anime director. He is the protégé of Hideaki Anno, and was a longtime animator at Gainax before leaving for Studio Khara.

The film was retitled “Evangelion: 1.01” for its DVD release and “Evangelion: 1.11” for a release with additional scenes.
