A poor nobleman, Solomon Morbeladze, rides his shaggy mule to earn his daily bread. Solomon has made matchmaking his profession, and in this way he must support his family and escape hunger, debts, and taxes.

Nodar, the man with a fickle character, leaves his wife and children in the village and goes to Kutaisi in search of his fortune. His friend Givi advises Nodar to return to his family, but Nodar wants to live in the city and will start working as a manager of a car factory dancer's circle.
Potter's son Gogita moves from his distant village Sabudara to the town. Knowledge obtained from his father and his personal qualities help Gogita on his difficult way towards professional success and beautiful Tebrole's heart.
