Jesse Kanda (born June 23, 1987) is an artist, animator and musician based in London. He was born in Japan and raised in Canada. Besides his solo career as an artist and musician, he is also well known for his collaborations with musicians including Arca, FKA Twigs and Björk as well as providing visuals for fashion label Hood By Air.

TRAUMA 2014 (9)

TRAUMA is a collaborative film project by Jesse Kanda and Arca first partially exhibited at MoMA PS1 at the end of 2013. The film follows a nonlinear narrative about the death of a salaryman, a drunk driving infant and takes place within a subconscious world. TRAUMA's score will span through Arca's existing and future works.

Father Son 2025

One rainy day, London-based artist and musician Jesse Kanda observes his father Kasuhisa make a big block of homemade I tofu. Son helps strain seawater, Father slices the curd with deliberation. Newly fermented, a smaller block of tofu is mixed with shoyu, ginger, green onion, and nori. Dirt on feet and body, on a hammock, lying on a bed inside a fanned room: two people from two generations and cultural upbringings, and their two different aftercares.
