Mélanie Prouvost, a ten-year-old butcher's daughter, is a gifted pianist. That is why she and her parents decide that she sit for the Conservatory entrance exam. Although Mélanie is very likely to be admitted, she unfortunately gets distracted by the president of the jury's offhand attitude and she fails. Ten years later, Mélanie becomes her page turner, waiting patiently for her revenge.
Mathieu, a piano virtuoso, goes home to help his brother Paul to take care of their sick mother. Paul is into reenacting old battles, dressing up and getting into character, even dueling if necessary. Mathieu gets involved in this world and play becomes real.
A mysterious Green Knight rides into a court celebration and challenges the young knights present to strike him with his own axe - on the condition that he, the Green Knight, may return exactly the same blow in a year and a day. Gawain accepts and cuts off his head. But the Green Knight stands up, retrieves his head, and rides away, reminding Gawain of his promise.
