One day, many parents received a letter from the school, with the following wording: "To the parents! It is you who are concerned - It is you to whom I want to speak about the responsibility of parents towards their children, so I ask you to come to the Odd Fellow Palace on Friday the 22nd at 8 pm and hear what I have to say to you."
Peter Andersen is an agent. Neither a wholesaler nor a representative, but simply an agent. Unlike his wife, he has no honorable ambitions. He is an honest, peaceful and self-sufficient person who has dragged his whole life like a draft ox, whipped forward by a boss who constantly demands results, and by a family who still demands money for pleasures.
A satire of a typical Danish provincial town ca. 1900 with it's malicious, but merry portraits of the citizens. We meet the misshapen Emanuel Thomsen "Tummelumsen" and the two friends senior examining officer Knagsted and senior teacher Clausen.
