A comedy drama told from six different perspectives of a family who reunite in Adelaide when Mum plans to sell the family home. Any sense of togetherness quickly crumbles to reveal how fucked and glorious it is to be home.
When the matriarch of an unconventional family decides to sell the family home to rid herself of debt racked up by her ex-husband, she provokes existential crises in her children as they return to Adelaide to say farewell.
Fourteen to eighteen contestants have to survive on an uninhabited island for 40 days (20 days in the special editions). It's up to them to find food to accompany the meagre ration of rice provided at the start of the adventure. They have to build a shelter to protect themselves from the elements (bad weather, insects, etc.) and maintain the fire that they managed to build or that they won in the first comfort test.
