Three short segments about love, all set in Warsaw’s Civil Registry Office at the corner of Nowy Świat and Aleje Jerozolimskie, against a vivid backdrop of early 1960s city life.
After becoming a licensed engineer abroad, Lucyna comes back to Poland and looks for a job. Because her wealthy father thinks it's inappropriate for a girl to work, she decides to put on men's clothes and get a job as Julian Kwiatkowski.
Julek doesn't want to work, he prefers to sing on the street and marry his beloved. His family doesn't want to hear about it, to which Julek sings in the voice of Eugeniusz Bodo: "That's just how cold-hearted I am..."
