A group of young boys inadvertently free the creature from captivity. Going on a rampage, the Boogeyman, whose origin dates back to the time of Genesis, targets an innocent child – whose father is the town Sheriff.
After Carla and her roommates move into her late Grandmother's home, Carla discovers that there is more in the basement than old furniture and cobwebs. Their uneasy peace is tested as tensions rise. Carla's insistence on the "thing" in the basement is met with disbelief and scorn until one fatal night when what lurks in the dark emerges into the shaky light.
