Robert Lund (Roy Bjornstad) is a weary man, and his days as a starring saxophone player seem to be near their end. The Nazis have occupied Norway for some time, and he has been passing the time by telling his son Bobby (Erik Andersson) some tales of his previous exploits.
A wave of violent demonstrations paralyzes a small society. At the same time a cynical group works in the shadows and uses the chaos as a smokescreen for a coup d’état.
The criminal Tom goes in and out of jail and feels he is getting destructive, where he can't distinguish between love and violence, endearment and toughness nor self realization and self destruction.
