An adaptation of the Australian film “The Little Death” (2014). A black comedy about sex, love, relationships and taboo. Five couples, five problems, five ways to solve those problems … not all of these ways are correct. The film is about the taboo things we don’t talk about behind closed doors – on the big screen.
Māris Strazds (also known as "Mr Black Stork") is a man who's been studying black storks and their behaviour for forty years. His love for and relationship with these beautiful birds is longer than the relationship with his wife. Having spent more than half of his life following black storks, Māris is aware that due to deforestation the number of these birds in Latvia is rapidly approaching zero.
The film follows a ten-year-old boy whom everyone calls Bunny. He is emotional and reserved, and he spends most of his days playing with his only friend Edvards. Bunny’s life is shaken by his Mom’s new boyfriend Juris. The film depicts the pre-puberty boys’ awkward understanding of sexual intercourse and also tells the story of the relationship between a single mother and her son, seeking for a way to turn an uncomfortable experience into an opportunity to mature.
