Lokabandhoo depicts the life story of the great luminary of Assam, Dr Bhubaneswar Barooah, who during the 1930s, became a a living legend by virtrue of his untiring and unflinching devotion to the people of the state.
Set in 1982, during the six-year Assam Movement, the film is based on the life struggle of an amateur dhol drummer (Dhuliya) in Assamese folk dramas.
