Based on the popular Filipino fairytale, Three princes are in search of a mythical bird, the Ibong Adarna, not only for the cure to the ailing king but also to rival for the rightful claim to the throne.
Guia, a country girl, begins to sing American songs on the radio, after being infatuated with images of Hollywood and the attention lavished on her by the son of the wealthy hacienda owner. She finds fame, and moves to Manila. Eventually, she becomes disillusioned, and returns to the province, singing Filipino music. She also returns to the arms of her childhood sweetheart.
The story is about the love and determination of the Duke Florante and the Princess Laura of Albania while being pursued by the usurper Count Adolfo.
