BEEF tells the story of an BBQ evening hosted by Marc, a somewhat peculiar perfectionist. Everything is planned to be meticulous. The serviettes matching with the plastic cutlery and cups - and of course the guests. His ex-girlfriend (who brings her new boyfriend along), two sisters (the one has a crush on Marc and the other is a Vegetarian!) and two strange men (one of whom seems to fancy Marc and the other just quietly digs into the food). Everything could have been so perfect, as Marc had planned - but the guests end up ridiculing Marc and reduce the host to a servant, but they forget that he who laughs last...
Jessica meets Tuli at the Jetty in Swakopmund, and they have an intimate night together. However, Tuli's business troubles prevent him from getting Jessica's number. Tuli seeks Jessica but fails, and the next day he is hired by David to plan his wedding. Tuli witnesses David proposing to Jessica, who is surprised to find out that Tuli is her wedding planner. They grow closer, realizing their feelings for each other. Tuli decides to step away from the wedding planning. On the wedding day, Tuli receives a call from Sally offering to invest in his business, and Jessica, in her wedding gown, approaches him. The outcome of their love is uncertain.
Surrounded by vast expanses of desert and sea, the small Namibian harbor of Walvis Bay is the unlikely setting in which filmmaker Cecil Moller explores the lives of sex-workers. Dependent for their business on the brief visits of foreign shipping trawlers to this remote port, the women give revealing insights into the choices they have made and why they have made them. Their conflicts to do with notions of love, sex, sin and redemption become the main themes, while the threat of HIV/AIDS hangs ominously in the background.
