Several individual stories converge in the imposing setting of the southernmost tip of the continent, all of them involving a crisis of faith. Most of the important situations in the film are based on real episodes, such as the massacre of indigenous people perpetrated by the landowners in the area.

A Midsummer Night's Dream 2019

Joaquín Gaztambide’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream was first performed at the Teatro del Circo in 1852. Participating in the revival of this comic opera are Miguel Ángel Gómez-Martínez, the veteran musical director, who considers Gaztambide to be “interesting, enjoyable and the holder of an extraordinary musical quality”, and Marco Carniti, the stage director, who wants to make us enjoy the beauty of a work which cheerfully veers between dream and reality. The libretto has been completely revamped and the action moved to Rome in the 1950s. Broadcast live from the Teatro de la Zarzuela on February 10th, 2019.

Marta lives alone under a bridge, where she has set up her makeshift office as a telephone fraudster. On Mother's Day, she tries to contact her daughter, who wants nothing to do with her. Willing to do anything for a reunion, Marta resorts to a call full of emotion and fraud. But there is no answer on the other end, and the day ends like so many others.
