Sahara abu Jamal, 19, lives in the Occupied Territories. She is engaged to Walid abu Said, 30 of Jaffa, as part of an arranged marriage. While being searched at a security checkpoint, in the darkest and bleakest of places, sexual tensions arise between Sahara and the checkpoint’s Chief female officer.
The film was shot entirely in a nightclub, with an adjoining contemporary art gallery, whose customers are both Israelis and Palestinians, in one of Israel’s most open cities, Haifa. A long night in a place where the most diverse people meet: Jews, Muslims, gays, heterosexuals, transvestites; and three women, who in that multifaceted microcosm, a gathering peaceful hideout, can find shelter from male bullying and arrogance.
Rami deals with his Jewish girlfriend’s opposition to abortion. His mother complicates things while seeking compensation for her daughter Fifi accident. Miri plans to terminate her sister’s pregnancy with Rami, who’s Arab. Fifi struggles to hide her non-virginity to save her family’s reputation.
